The use of molds is linked to the concept of infinite repetition and the cult of copying. It is one of the classic ways of creating and reproducing  ceramic pieces. The reproduction can be faithful and integral or the ceramist can transform the art piece, through additions and subtractions of clay, obtaining metamorphosed pieces from the same mold. This was the process used in the Metamorfoses Collection in which, through transformations of the stoneware and porcelain moldings of a classic head, Maria João Pais created different pieces with a common matrix.
